You could have the best business in the world, produce the best widgets or provide the absolute best service in your market, but if people can’t find you or do not know where you are, what’s the point?

If you don’t get your message out there in front of your ideal customers, how are they going to know your business exists?  It takes correct planning and execution of your ideas to get your business known.  We’ve put together a list of five things you can do to get your business known by your target audience.

1. Your Business Stationary
Have you looked at your business stationary lately?  Does it project the right image to your customers when they receive communications from you?  If not then perhaps you could consider updating the look of your business stationary.  Make sure your logo, address, social media addresses and website details are prominently displayed on all your business communication pieces including your business cards, letterheads, invoices, compliment slips and all other stationary.

Get some pens, pencils and other small items printed with your company information on, you can give these out to customers too.  That way, when they use this equipment, they will think about your business. Making sure that you are branded in this ways gets your message out there and helps to spread the word about your business.

2. Carry a Promo Pack with You at all times
Always be prepared to speak to people about your business.  Make sure you carry a good supply of business cards, leaflets, fact sheets or whatever promotes your business with you in a handy pack.  Perhaps you produce a newsletter for your customers, if you do then carry a few back copies with you to give out to your target audience when you are out and about.  A newsletter really establishes you as an authority in your market place and would separate you from the rest of your competition if you fill it with practical and relevant information to your customers.  You’ll soon have people talking about you online and offline.

3. Wear your brand!
Have you considered branding your clothing so that you are instantly recognised?  This is a good way to get your message out there. Have T-Shirts, polo shirts, sweatshirts, baseball caps, jackets or any other item of clothing printed that would fit with your business.  If you are a smarter organisation, consider a branded tie, smart jacket or blazer.  Every step you (and your staff if you have them) make will be a step in the right direction because you will be constantly advertising and promoting your business everywhere you go.  Not to mention how smart you will look!

4. Give Back and Grow
Why not sponsor a charity event for a good cause in your community.  By sponsoring a well deserved event, you get to stand out as a good business and also get the opportunity to get your brand out to more people and other businesses. The feel good factor that this creates in the people who attend the event is huge and will result in new referrals and work for you.  Think of a good charity that you could help and start to build a relationship with them.  You will be glad you did as the benefits of this bring far more than money.

5. Become an Author!
They say that we all have one good book in us so why not write yours.  You could write the definitive guide about something relevant to your market and become known as an instant expert and published author.  Even if you can’t write, with a basic idea, you could hire a ghost-writer to write your book for you.  With the advent of Amazon kindle publishing and the ease at which you can write and upload your own book, it is super easy.  This is one of the best ways to get your business name out there that there is and very worthy of your consideration.
